Open Call Nationals: The Final Callback

A 3-day convention and competition experience along with teacher training sessions. All Overall and Lead Role regional winners are automatically eligible to compete in National Competition and skip Preliminary rounds. National Competition will award our national titles such as Face of Open Call, Principal Lead Roles, and our Choreography Battle Winner! Winners of the choreography battle will be asked to join OC on tour to teach a Master Class for a regional event.

Your chance to perform onstage in our ending showcase and work intimately with our amazing faculty.

$75 entry fee for an audition experience and three rehearsals w/ your selected faculty member.

Younger Dancers who are unable to attend the late rehearsal times for Faculty Pieces are eligible to bypass auditions and take part in our Mini Faculty Piece.

ABOUT THE CALLBACK:

Open Call doesn’t just believe in enriching the dance community through feedback and scholarship- they are bringing their esteemed faculty to teach in a ballroom near you! These day long events will be open to ages 7 and up, and taught at an “open” level that all dancers will be able to utilize. Group discounts available.

This event will include 10 master classes including Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre. Plus so many more extra fun events! As usual Open Call fashion, we will wrap up our weekend with The Final Showcase, and Open Call will be awarding multiple scholarships!

Our Faculty

Andrew Wilson:

Andrew Wilson was recently seen on Broadway playing the role of Tumblebrutus in CATS. Other credits include Dance Captain/Newsie in the 2017 movie, Newsies The Musical as well as Dance Captain/Swing in the Newsies 1st National Tour. He has worked with Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan. He also performed in the CATS 25th Anniversary Tour; a show which he was able to revisit twice more as Mr. Mistoffelees at Pittsburgh CLO and Casa Manaña.


April Cook:

April Cook is an NYC-based teacher, choreographer, and dancer from Charlotte, NC. She received her formative training under Gene Medler of the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble, Barbara Morgan Eaves, of Rhythm Dance Studio, and Miss Donna's School of Dance. April currently teaches throughout the country, and is a judge/teacher for several competitions and conventions including NYCDA, Mainstage Productions, Dance Theater USA, The PTC Productions Annual Teacher Workshop/The PULSE on Tour, and The Big Apple Tap Festival. She has been a tap instructor for Rosie O’Donnell’s Rosie’s Theater Kids and had the incredible privilege of performing nationally with Savion Glover.

Frankie Morgan:

Frankie Morgan grew up in McAlester, Oklahoma and he moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career as a professional dancer. He has assisted choreographers like Stacey Tookey and Tyce Diorio on episodes of the Fox show So You Think You Can DanceFrankie was the male swing for the Shaping Sound tour choreographed by Travis Wall, Teddy Forance, Nick Lazzarini, and Kyle Robinson. He has performed in the Festival Ballet Theater’s The Secret Garden Ballet & Mixed Repertoire. In 2017, he moved from Los Angeles to New York City to further pursue his passion for dance. Since moving he has worked for choreographers like Joe Lanteri, Kelly Divine, and Karla Garcia.Most recently, he performed with Taylor Swift at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.
