REGISTRATION

We do encourage all entries to be made online. However, should you need to manually register please note you will not be considered registered until you have received a confirmation email stating we have received your manual registration form and FULL PAYMENT. All fees must be paid in the form of a certified check or Visa/Mastercard/American Express credit card.  All entries must be received 21 days prior to the competition date. Those registered after the 21 day cut-off will be subject to late fees. On-site registration will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Online registration will be turned off 7 days prior to the event and on-site prices will be put into effect. All entry fees are non-refundable.

NUMBER OF ENTRIES

Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and will be limited to the amount of performances. Open Call reserves the right to add additional competition days or move the competition location due to unforeseen circumstances. 

Soloists are limited to entering a maximum of three solo categories at regional Competitions. More than three solos may be performed at nationals, The Final Callback, provided they attended and qualified an additional solo at a different location or by using our manual pre-qualification. 

Duo/Trios are limited to entering a maximum of three categories at regional Competitions, unless one dancer is different. More than three duets/trios may be performed at nationals, The Final Callback, provided they attended and qualified an additional duo/trio at a different location or by using our manual pre-qualification.

Small/Large Groups are limited to entering a maximum of four categories at regional Competitions, unless 25% the dancers are different. More than four groups may be performed at nationals, The Final Callback, provided the group attended and qualified an additional routine at a different location or by using our manual pre-qualification.

Line/Productions are limited to entering a maximum of three categories at regional Competitions, unless 25% the dancers are different. More than three may be performed at nationals, The Final Callback, provided the group attended and qualified an additional routine at a different location or by using our manual pre-qualification.

PROPS

No dangerous props may be used on stage. No forms of liquid, gels, foggers, or confetti, which may affect the stage surface, may be used during a routine. If a studio has one of the above “props” this MUST be pre-approved by Open Call and the venue before the competition.  All props backstage MUST be labeled with the studio name for identification purposes. Open Call is not responsible for getting the prop(s) on and off stage. Open Call is not responsible for any lost, stolen, and/or damaged props.

MUSIC REQUIREMENTS

Sign into your DanceGenie account to upload one track for each routine. Please provide a backup CD or iPod for each entry on-site. An iPod may only be used as back up-- if you are using an iPod to back up music, you must have individual playlists for each routine. All music must be turned in one week prior to the event.

AGE APPROPRIATE

Open Call prides itself in maintaining a clean, professional, and family environment. Disqualification and/or deductions will be taken at the judge’s discretion.

VIDEO & PHOTOGRAPHY

We will have professional video and photography in every city. All personal Photography and Videography of any kind is strictly prohibited throughout the entire event. Anyone found videotaping or taking pictures will be asked to delete their footage with the risk of device confiscation and possible disqualification.

VENUES

Each venue will be held in a Theater setting. We always guarantee a safe and professional dance atmosphere.  All Open Call cities will have professional sound, lighting, and marley flooring for all performances. 

SCHEDULE

Any change in competition days and/or times is at the sole discretion of Open Call and will be determined by the amount of time available at each Regional Competition.  A time schedule will be e-mailed, to the address provided on your registration form, one week prior to the competition date to all studio accounts. Every regional schedule is set up based solely on the breakdown of entries by solos, duets/trios, groups and productions for that particular city. We do our best to set up a schedule, which will best accommodate everyone at that regional.

OVERALL RULES & GUIDELINES

All entries must compete on the day and the time assigned. Entries that do not compete at their assigned day and time will be adjudicated but not eligible for high score or overall high score. Any scheduling conflicts must be brought to Open Call’s attention 14 days prior to the competition. If a scheduling conflict arises due to a scheduling change on the competitions behalf each conflict will be addressed on an individual basis.

INCOMPLETE ROUTINES

Any solo routine that is not completed the first time, and is attempted a second time, will be adjudicated only and not eligible for the high score award.

All dancers, teachers, and parents are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Open Call reserves the right to remove those who do not follow these guidelines.

INCLUSIVITY POLICY

At Open Call, we have a zero tolerance for hate speech, bullying, and discrimination of any kind. If you are observed in an action that could be harmful to another dancer (a remark, video,etc), Open Call reserves the right to remove you from the premises without a refund. Open Call Competition strives to remain a safe space for all races, genders, religions and sexualities.
